University freedom comes with responsibilities.
It is commonly said i live my life,my dress my choice,am enjoying my youth as the Bible(the Holy book of God ) encourages us so.Our universities have become hideouts for idlers, immoralities like abortions, prostitution, drug addicts, thugarism ,exam malpractices among others. Despite all this, Kenyan societies believes that it is from these institutions that one is secured for a bright future . The truth is that students changes a lot once they step and stay in the varsinity, party life begins, alcohol drinking, unpleasant tours by friends, unnecessary shopping to please fellow comrades e.t.c. This becomes the new lifestyle for many. As they discover they have been missing a lot from an environment full of rules, restrictions and strict supervision from the parents, teachers and most importantly the entire society.’ Finally am here living by myself and on my own’, having in mind that the parents are many kilometers away and university is not restricted to sex, alcohols or even drugs.
The lifestyle in our university pleases a lot that is if u have managed to get a glimpse of it. Two by two along the academic highway is the trend don’t ask how. It is obviously the opposite genders, holding one another and helping each in getting rid of the existing cold.May be if am not wrong, because of the cool and pleasing atmosphere usually inhibited by our universities.
This life is indeed beautiful,Following the fact that students are granted sponsors ‘HELB’ where money is credited in there accounts many therefore eat, drink and sleep as away of enjoying sweet money that they have not worked for. What students don’t know is that all these will come to pass. The four years in campus is so limited that it should be used to create network and links that can be useful thereafter graduation. The moment one steps out of campus, activities like partying will be put to a minimum or alternatively completely dealt away with because of their bills since everyone will be focusing on the basics. Friends will be no more. Many will be discovering what life outside the campus has in store for them. Priorities will be changing, Individuals will be running up and down in search of jobs ,families or even scholarship to study abroad.
In equal measure there are lots of benefits that can be attained from the campus experience granted the opportunity. If we do all we can together and be responsible and principled, the students can go beyond mere academic excellence and attain successful and admirable life that we are all fighting/ working hard for.
