Church and the ‘New morality’ contest.
Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop of the Anglican Church makes the stand clear that the church has no room for homosexual weddings. He also reinstates that the church will not go loose to host ordination of gays into priesthood. There seems to be a consistent fading of the lines of distinction between the church and the world system, there being an ushering into times when what the bible calls abominations, presses to have a table under the shadows of the holy faith.
A few months in the past, there was a truce between the scientists and the clerics on what they termed as an urge for the church heads to get lenient and accommodate homosexuals.
The Anglican church has however voiced it with all confidence that the Lesbian Gays Bisexuals and Transgender(LGBT) shall not have any soft landing on the holy altars.
On NTV morning show,AM LIVE,Friday,July 27,archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit put it open that the church will not give any open window for such practice.
“We will not officiate anybody coming as a gay person and we are saying we will also not ordain any clergy who is discovered to be gay who want to be ordained, and that is the stand of the Anglican church.” Sapit says.
The practicality of these occurrences are concrete enough with a kenyan gay couple exchanging vows on a highly privatized ‘wedding’ on the 27th of December 2017.
The secluded matrimonial engaged Dennis Cindano tagged as Hotneyy Khan and Walter Ambari Shiyundi tagged as De Love, one being a priest.
Arch. Jackson Ole Sapits response on the matter fits in purpose with Reuben Kagame’s comment on the same vein that there arises a conflict when homosexuals want to be incorporated in the church.-“When the (Gays and Lesbians) begin saying that they want to be homosexuals and Christians, you have a conflict”.
However, there is a contrasting hand that holds a sect that seems to have all the room for the LGBT community.
It is barely a month after a Nairobi based church,Nairobi Cosmopolitan Church declared its gates open to homosexuals.
Pastor David Ochal, being the head of the mentioned church has been on the forefront to the campaign on repeal of Sections 162 and 165 of the Penal code, the regulatory framework on religion,to give more confidence to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community.
The Atheist Society of Kenya is left a step behind on the wave as they continue to push for the voice of the LGBT community’s voice in the society.
